Valedictory Address on the Treatment of Puerperal Sepsis

It is one of the traditions of the Edinburgh Obstetrical Society that the retiring President deliver a valedictory address, in the course of which he should give an account of the work done during his term of office, and touch on any topic which might seem to him of general interest to the Fellows. 1 welcome the opportunity of congratulating the Society on its continued prosperity during the past two years. I do this with the better grace in that this happy state of affairs is the result of the constant enthusiasm and hard work of the other officials of the Society, and is due in only a very slight degree to the work of the President. The number of Ordinary Fellows added to our roll during the two years is forty, while eight names have been added to the Honorary Fellowship list. The number of new Ordinary Fellows shows that there is no lack of interest among our younger graduates in the subjects of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and it must be gratifying to our Treasurer, Dr W.
